The Vancouver Island Zen Sangha practises Serene Reflection Meditation (Soto Zen Buddhism) under the guidance of our resident teacher, Reverend Master Meiten of the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives. The Order, whose first abbess was Reverend Master Jiyu-Kennett, has its North American headquarters at Shasta Abbey in California and its European headquarters at Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey in England, with priories, temples, and affiliated meditation groups throughout North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.
The Vancouver Island Zen Sangha serves Buddhists in the Victoria area, meeting twice a week. Rev. Meiten leads our meetings, and offers meditation instruction and private spiritual counselling.
We are very pleased to offer Rev. Meiten's books, Reflections on the Path: Zen Training in Everyday Life and Reminders on the Way: Zen Training in Everyday Life in electronic formats. Some remaining hard copies of Reminders on the Way are still available.
In 2014 we will be publishing Rev. Meiten's third book, Returning to Stillness: Zen Training in Everyday Life.
For more information, please go to the Writings of Rev. Meiten.
The Vancouver Island Zen Sangha is a registered charity supported entirely by donations. There are no fees, and donations are gratefully received.
